Child Safety — Standards Against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE)

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) is firmly committed to the protection of children and minors from all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation. The UUM Alumni application has a zero-tolerance policy toward any content, behaviour, or activity related to Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE). This page outlines our standards, commitments, and the external frameworks we adhere to.

1 Our Commitment

The UUM Alumni application is designed exclusively for UUM graduates and university alumni. We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional environment on our platform. Any content or conduct that sexualises, exploits, or endangers children is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account termination and reporting to the relevant authorities.

Zero Tolerance: The UUM Alumni platform has an absolute zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, exploitation, or any content that endangers the safety of minors.

2 Prohibited Content and Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited on the UUM Alumni platform:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form — images, videos, text, or links.
  • Grooming, solicitation, or sexual communication directed at minors.
  • Sharing, distributing, or facilitating access to CSAE-related content.
  • Any attempt to use the platform to contact, exploit, or harm a child.
  • Content that normalises or glorifies the sexual abuse or exploitation of children.

3 Externally Published Standards We Follow

Our policies and operational standards are aligned with the following externally published frameworks and guidelines against CSAE:

4 Reporting Violations

If you encounter any content or behaviour on the UUM Alumni platform that you believe constitutes child sexual abuse or exploitation, please report it immediately. We take all reports seriously and will act swiftly.

Reports can be submitted directly through the app's reporting feature or by contacting us via email. All reports are treated confidentially.

You may also report child sexual abuse material directly to the NCMEC CyberTipline or to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

5 Enforcement

Upon receiving a credible report or detecting a violation, UUM will:

  • Immediately suspend the account pending investigation.
  • Preserve relevant evidence in accordance with applicable law.
  • Report confirmed CSAM or CSAE violations to the NCMEC CyberTipline and Malaysian law enforcement authorities.
  • Permanently terminate accounts found to be in violation of this policy.
  • Cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations.
